Abstract

This work deals with the design, study and configuration of new transparent and translucent supports with double application: as pictorial supports and as reinforcement of restored works. In artistic application, transparent supports allow the use of the front and back and allow the degradation of color by means other than traditional ones. In the field of restoration, we advance solutions for the lining of supports whose review is of interest from a historical or documentary point of view. A series of stable acrylic and vinyl synthetic resins have been studied: those endorsed by manufacturers, with servants and restorers, and that at the same time can be used by painters in the creation of their works. The procedure for applying the film to the test tubes has been manual and mechanical using an "Ericsen" applicator. The tests consisted of subjecting the test tubes to visible and ultraviolet radiation, with a temperature control. The evaluation of the degradation has been carried out by visual examination, colorimetric examination and measurement of yellowness,
