Abstract

During the nineteenth century and from the invention of photography, arose in
few years a great number of photographic processes of diverse nature. The artifacts generated from them constitute valuable documents of that time. Unfortunately, the wide variety of materials used in
its manufacture makes it difficult to choose the most suitable treatment for its conservation. Therefore, we want to highlight the difficulties posed by facing this type of materials and the need to face the challenge with respect.
but also with full knowledge of what we have at hand. The main objective of this article is to show the work we do as third-year Graphic Document students at the Higher School of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets in Madrid, which was awarded the 2009 Aurelio Blanco award.
