Abstract

This set of fragments belongs to a Dressel 20 type amphora and comes from the underwater archaeological activities carried out in the bay of San Antonio Abad (Ibiza) during the years 1984-85 and directed by Doña Belen Martínez.

The panorama of underwater archeology in recent years on the Spanish coasts reflects an evolution towards a deep knowledge of underwater archeology, mainly on the coasts of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands; This evolution is manifested in the passage from a stage of testing and prospecting to another stage that could be called "full excavation", despite being carried out under conditions that are still considered insufficient.
