Abstract
The bad behavior of the thick plaster paste on wooden works, not always preserved in ideal conditions, has posed serious difficulties when it comes to conserving them or carrying out the necessary reintegrations. In order to avoid the inconveniences that originate from the reluctance of the traditional pastillage to follow the alternative movements of the wood -which cause the uplifts and losses of the wood-, we propose the preparation of a flexible pastillage, perfectly suitable to rebuild the gaps raised brocade. This pastillage, obtained by molding from the original parts, will respect the requirements of adaptation to the support, differentiation from the original and easy reversibility. This work has been carried out as a result of the intervention on an image of the Virgin of Mercy, from the Church of Santa María la Mayor in the city of Écija (Seville), which presented a rich decoration of very damaged pastillage on the clothes for losses.
