Abstract
This work presents the intervention project for the conservation-restoration of a set of lithic material from the Des-covered Cave, a Pleistocene site of Pinilla del Valle (Madrid) located in the upper valley of the Lozoya river, in the Guadarrama mountain range, within of the schist-grauvaquic complex.
Excavations in the so-called Des-Covered Cave began in 2009. This site is still under investigation.
The proposed intervention aims to facilitate the researchers and specialists of the Pinilla del Valle team the study of a series of pieces so that they can proceed with the search for marks of use or traceability without interfering in the preservation of cultural property as objects study.
For this, a series of specific and justified treatments are proposed that comply with the culturally established criteria and the deontological code of the profession.
The assessment of the state of conservation, the identification of the agents of deterioration and the knowledge about the raw material and the archaeological context are the main points of support that determine the treatment to be followed and the subsequent preventive conservation and maintenance.
