Abstract

The article describes the characteristics and transformations undergone by a Chinese  sculpture conserved in the National Decorative Arts Museum. After considering the  treatment performed on Asian religious art works and assessing the potential information  the sculpture contains both in its original configuration and the restoration undertaken in  an autochthonous workshop, stabilisation treatment was chosen with minimal alterations,  and showcasing the work’s composition and history through its damage.
