Abstract
The article is an approach to writing in Ancient Egypt and the teaching system of the scribes. The text is divided into two parts, the first being dedicated to the different writings in Egypt: hieroglyphic, hieratic and demotic, and also presenting a reflection on Champollion, the Rosseta stone and Coptic writing. The second part of the article deals with the learning of the scribes in the so-called Houses of Life or of the Scribes, as well as a vision of the way of learning and the organization of teaching in three levels. With all this, a meticulous training was completed that guaranteed professionalization and adequate work for the administration of Egyptian civilization. The scribes and their demanding training were also clearly reflected in their prestige and high socio-economic status.
