Abstract
Ibiza was conolized, from Carthage, in the year 654 BC, according to the legend of the historian Diodorus Siculus, although contact with the Phoenician and Mediterranean trade in general, must well precede this date. After its Punic foundation, it was successively the base of the Bárquidas in the Second Punic War and later a Roman colony, since Quinto Cecilio Metellus in the year 122 a: J: C: conquered the islands, annexing Ibiza to the Empire as a confederate city.
