Abstract
This article attempts to provide arguments that substantially modify the correspondence that in recent times has been tried to establish between the concepts of science and restoration. Undoubtedly, this effort participates in a generalized social current that tends to place all kinds of certainties about the world of reality on scientific principles. However, it is probable that the correspondence established between restoration and science by a good part of the current restaurateurs is due, mainly, to a defective understanding of the limits of their work or, even, to the social promotion that such association implies .
Based on the criticism of an article on restoration published in the Diario el País, a series of ideas are contributed to question the persistent tendency to identify science and restoration
